Are you thinking of cycling down the Altmühl?

Great idea: The Altmühltal cycle path is now one of the most popular cycle paths in Germany!
This is due to the Map_Altmuehleexcellent, mostly flat route, which leads you away from traffic through wonderful nature and charming medieval towns. Imposing castles and palaces as well as interesting rock formations make for a varied route. The very good signposting ensures relaxed cycling stages. Watch the fascinating changes of the Altmühl on its course from its source to the Main-Danube Canal and further to its mouth into the Danube.

  • Parking available in unguarded private parking lot at the hotel. Please pay any fees directly on site. They are not included in the tour price.

    Individual journey to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. There issue of the tour documents. An unguarded private parking space is included. Use the day of arrival to explore the medieval town on your own. Overnight stay in Rothenburg in 3*** Hotel Goldenes Fass or equivalent

    In the morning issue of rental bikes (if booked). Today you cycle first slightly hilly to the source of the Altmühl. The Altmühl cycle path now continues to Hornau (excursion possibility to the source of the Altmühl + 6 km there & back). The route continues past Colmberg Castle to Ansbach. Visit to the magnificent Hohenzollern Palace (= Ansbach Residence; closed on Mondays!; if you arrive on Sunday, then visit on Tuesday morning; included in the tour price). Questions

Can I book a return transfer from Regensburg to Rothenburg?

Yes. Please book the following options on request:
- Return transfer by bus: Saturdays, in June and September also Fri
- Return transfer by train: free choice of train on local trains from 9 am, no transfer to the station, 2 to 3 changes,
- Return transfer own bikes as described WITHOUT transport insurance: Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun


On the days with a return bus journey, the bikes are transported as part of the bus journey: only joint transportation of customer and bike. Please make sure to book this as well!

On other days: Return the bikes to the last stage hotel in Regensburg by 5 p.m. at the latest on the day before the return journey. The bikes will then be ready for you at the hotel in Rothenburg o.d. Tauber from around 12 noon the next day.
