The Altmühl enchants with its very special tranquility! Very quickly you will get used to the paddling technique and begin to appreciate the boat as your very own nutshell. Haste and stress fall away in an instant as soon as your paddle dips into that river for the first time. Herons nest on the banks. Swans swim proudly by. Baroque castles, mighty fortresses, fortresses, beautiful old towns and the Bavarian Gemütlichkeit await you, as soon as you put on somewhere…

And who knows? You might make friends with a beaver. In the Altmühl Valley you will feel transported to times long past. Dive in and enjoy the heavenly peace on the water!

The Altmühl is one of the quietest rivers in Germany – far away from shipping traffic and perfect for anyone who wants to start their paddling adventure in a relaxed manner. Even without previous experience, you can enjoy a safe and pleasant tour through picturesque landscapes.

Your tour – relaxed and easy to do
With a total length of approx. 88 km, the route is ideal for anyone with a normal level of fitness. You will be on the boat for around 4 to a maximum of 6.5 hours a day – with plenty of time for breaks, enjoying nature and making small discoveries on the banks.

Return transfer – convenient and flexible
Once you have arrived at your destination, you can easily return to your starting point by bus or train. Or you can simply leave the organization to us: book the option  “Transfer person” and we will take care of everything – including luggage transportation. You can agree on the exact procedure and time at the start of the tour.

We recommend that you arrive by train. Start your vacation at home and enjoy the journey to the land of the Altmühl.

The starting hotel is located about 10 minutes walk from Treuchtlingen train station.

No problem – this trip has a little sister. With tour 217b you are only 4 days in the boat instead of 7. If you like, you can build an individual vacation around the ‘paddle’s core’ with additional nights.
