Norway is THE COUNTRY for a multi-day tour on cross-country skis!

Since this sport is so popular there, you can expect great ski resorts with a long tradition of winter tourism and, above all, a very well-maintained network of cross-country ski trails.

Northwest of the Olympic city of Lillehammer runs the Peer Gynt trail, which connects the ski areas between Espedalen and Skeikampen. The Peer Gynt trail is groomed and takes you through a landscape with views of the surrounding mountains, through birch forests, past typical Norwegian farmsteads and along frozen lakes.

The cross-country tour starts in Espedalen and ends in Skeikampen, 40 km north of Lillehammer. Transportation from Oslo airport to Espedalen and from Skeikampen back to Oslo is included in the tour price.

You don’t have to worry about your luggage, luggage transport is included, as well as breakfast, packed lunch and dinner.

Route and requirements for your skills

The tour runs at an altitude of about 700 – 900 m. You will walk about 80 km in total – There are many options for interesting detours.
The entire Peer Gynt trail is groomed by a trail machine almost daily during the season and can be skied with normal classic cross-country skis. Skating is possible only on one day.
You should be a normally experienced cross-country skier and be able to handle the distances given in a somewhat mountainous terrain.
The trip is not suitable for persons with reduced mobility. Please contact us for detailed information if needed.

Equipment

The classic cross-country skis are suitable for the cross-country tour.
You can also rent cross-country skiing equipment from us (wax skis with mostly binding Rottefella NNN)

Arrival / Transfer

Included in the tour price is the following transfer to and from Oslo Gadermoen Airport:

Arrival: Oslo Gardermoen – Espedalen

Train Oslo Gardermoen to Vinstra; departure Oslo Gardermoen at approx. 14:29 or 16:29, arrival Vinstra: 17:11 or 19:18
Transportation from Vinstra to Espedalen by hotel bus / cab;

Departure: Skeikampen – Oslo Gardermoen

Transfer from Skeikampen to Lillehammer by bus / cab; departure 09:00 hrs.
Train ride Lillehammer to Oslo Gardermoen; hourly departure, free choice of train.

Please coordinate your flight times with us before booking your flight so that they match the train and transfer times!

Arrival by car / ferry

If you would like to travel to Olso by ferry, the Colorline ferry mini-cruise from Kiel to Oslo is a great option.

We will be happy to make you a package offer for the trip including ferry crossing.

After breakfast we will go on the Peer Gynt cross-country skiing trail through the snowy Norwegian landscape. You can extend the tour to 22 km by walking to the top of Ruten (1,517 m.a.s.l.) and enjoy the beautiful view there.

Today you have an easy day tour ahead of you. You start in Fefor and drive along the lake Gålå to the village of the same name.

Gålå offers many winter sports opportunities. So today you can choose whether you want to make a round trip with your cross-country skis on one of the many trails or if you prefer to enjoy some nice ski runs today. Ski rental is on site.

Today they have a medium daily stage ahead of them. The route leads through a Norwegian ‘troll forest’ on easy and comfortable terrain. Kvittfjell was the site of the 1994 Olympic downhill race.

The first part of the tour leads uphill from Kvittfjell. Then the trail continues through light, hilly terrain before descending to Skeikampen.

After breakfast we leave at 09:00 by bus / cab to Lillehammer. From there, take the train to Oslo Gardermoen Airport (departures approximately every hour).

What meals does the house offer?

You will be fully catered with breakfast, very rich and varied evening buffets. For the day you will receive packed lunches.

What demands do the tours and trails place on my skills?

What equipment should I bring?

Since you will be skiing mainly on groomed trails, normal, classic cross-country skis are sufficient. In Norway, slightly wider skis with steel edges are often used due to possible deep snow areas. You can rent skis, boots and poles (wax skis with mostly binding Rottefella NNN). When booking, we take your body and shoe size.
In most houses are very well equipped ski cellar with facilities for waxing.

Are additional nights bookable?

Yes. We are happy to offer you additional nights. If you would like to stay a little longer at your destination, Skeikampen, we have to charge extra for the extra transfer to Lillehammer. Please indicate this when booking.

What do I have to consider when entering Norway?

EU citizens (who do not have any special circumstances, e.g. dual citizenship, primary residence abroad or provisionally issued travel documents) require a valid identity card or passport for entry to Norway, which must be valid for at least the next three months after the end of the journey. must be valid for 6 months. If you have another citizenship or more than one citizenship, or if you have special legal requirements, please contact us before booking your trip.
