Cycling tour Italy: The Adige cycle path from Nauders to Lake Garda to Verona

Individual arrival

Come to South Tyrol to the Reschen Pass with the world famous Lago di Resia to Nauders. You will receive all the travel information as well as your rental bikes if you have booked them. An unguarded parking lot is available near the hotel, at the cable car station in Nauders.

Overnight stay in 3*** Gasthof Martha or equivalent.

Bike tour Nauders – Schlanders Naturns, approx. 70 km, 350 m ↑ 1,200 m ↓, approx. 6 h

Today begins the first stage of your bike tour on the Adige cycle path!

Along the Adige river you cycle always gently sloping through well-tended orchards, at the church tower Graun to Glurns, the smallest town in South Tyrol, through the Vinschgau valley to Schlanders or Naturns (townscape, castle).

Bike tour Naturno – Bolzano, approx. 46 km, 60 m ↑ 350 m ↓, approx. 4 h

First you cycle a short distance on side roads, partly flat, slightly hilly to Nals, then past Dornsberg Castle to Meran. Dornsberg Castle to Merano. The route along the Adige cycle path is very beautiful on flat paths via Andriano to the Etsch/Eisack estuary near the imposing Sigmundskron Castle; cycle paths lead you directly to the center of of Bolzano (Ötzi Museum, Lauben, cathedral, Gries church with Pacher altar, etc.).

Overnight stay in 3*** hotel

Bolzano- Trento bike tour, approx. 60 km, 100 m ↑ 200 m ↓, approx. 5 h

Continue along the Adige river to Neumarkt-Auer and the Salurner Klause. This will take you to San Michele all’Adige and the center of the old council town of Trento (cathedral, castle, Neptune fountain, picturesque townscape, numerous shopping opportunities, town hall, Roman finds, etc.).
Overnight stay in a 4**** hotel (e.g. Grand Hotel) or in a 3*** hotel (e.g. Hotel Everest).

Bike tour Trento – Lake Garda: Riva or Arco , approx. 53 km

Through picturesque vineyards, the Adige cycle path takes you to Rovereto (old town, monuments) and Mori. Slightly ascending you will reach San Giovanni. Continue via Torbole along Lake Garda to Arco (option 1) or Riva (option 2).

Note: An overnight stay in Riva del Garda is also possible for an additional charge (opt. 2).
Due to complaints about the quality of the rooms and service, we are unfortunately unable to recommend this option at present.

Overnight at the 3*** Hotel Olivo or equivalent in Arco (option 1, standard route).

Bike tour Lake Garda – Cavaion Veronese, approx. 65 km & 15 minutes by bus

First, a short bus transfer takes you to San Giovanni (3 km), from where you continue the cycle tour continue on a flat to slightly downhill route to San Roco; you cycle along the Adige cycle path via Ala to Brentino-Belluno, after a short climb you reach Albaré on a side road; cycle directly to the hotel in Cavaion Veronese on cycle paths. to the hotel in Cavaion Veronese

Overnight stay in 3*** hotel.

Bike tour Cavaion Veronese – Verona, approx. 41 km

Approx. 2.5 km on a side road to the Canale Cammuzoni. Along this former irrigation systemsystem for the fortresses of Verona and Mantua, you cycle along the cycle path away from car traffic with very views over the Adige to the 1st cyclist observation tower and on to Bussolengo. After approx. 1.5 km continue along this waterway to the center of Verona.

Possibility to visit the city. Particularly worth seeing is the famous Arena di Verona with its grandiose opera opera festival, as well as Castelvecchio, Ponte Scaligero, Piazza delle Erbe and much more. Visit to the Arena di Verona (“Nabucco” by Giuseppe Verdi, Carmen, Aida and much more), after the Colosseum in Rome and the Arena of Capua, the third largest of the surviving ancient amphitheaters.
