Lake Constance in three stages?

Of course – and the Seerhein right along with it!

We start this technically easy but physically demanding lake tour with 3 x around 80 day stages in the old council and university town of Constance. Like the wings of a butterfly in spring, we move around this noble pivot of the tour at Rhine kilometer zero.

The tour is short – and crisp. The first stage takes you to the picturesque Swiss lakeside town of Stein am Rhein and – if you want a few extra kilometers – Stein am Rhein to the Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen. The second tour takes you via Überlingen and Friedrichshafen to the city island of Lindau and the festival city of Bregenz. On the third saddle day, you will finally reach Constance again.

Feel free to book an extra night in this city, which boasts more than just a “paradise” district. Somewhere here it must have been, once. Allow yourself a little more time for the lake and its uniquely beautiful town on the banks of the Rhine.

A little tip: The Hörnle lido – on the horn of Constance Staad. Simply fantastic – and completely free of charge!

Accommodation

We offer this tour in three categories. Choose for yourself whether you would like to stay in a 4-star hotel, a 3-star hotel or a simple and affordable guesthouse in Constance and Lindau.

In the Standard category, we offer you good guesthouses and mid-range hotels at 3-star level.

In the Comfort category you will find good to very good inns and comfort hotels at 3- and 4-star level.

In the Premium category, you can look forward to comfortable, very good hotels at 4-star level.

In any case, your hotel will provide you with a rich breakfast buffet every day.

The route

> You cycle two three full day stages of around 80 km each. On the first day, you can extend the stage to the Rhine Falls. On the second day, you have the option of cycling around the whole of Lake Überlingen – as you wish.

> They mainly follow the Lake Constance cycle path away from car traffic.

Along almost the entire Lake Constance Cycle Path, there are emergency aid posts and bicycle self-repair tool posts at quite a few locations.

You will also find bike stores along the way again and again. Almost the entire way you can shorten by public transport (train, bus, boat).

Dates

We offer the tour from Easter to October. You can start every day.

Before the start of your trip, we will send you a link by e-mail where you will find the digital travel documents such as your hotel list, voucher, route map, travel information and GPS data to help you prepare for your bike tour.

You will also receive a printed package of documents at the start hotel. Among other things, it contains all the map material.

Rental bicycles

Robust touring bikes: 7 speeds with hub gears and coaster brake or 21 speeds with derailleur gears and freewheel, comfort saddle, 28 inch with different frame heights.

Electric bikes: With your electric bike, unisex bike with freewheel, you will feel the lightness of traveling. You have your eyes open to the world around you. The electric bike is particularly advantageous for cyclists with different levels of physical fitness and ensures that everyone can ride at the same speed.

The well-sprung bike lets you cycle comfortably, even if the terrain is a little bumpier for a short time. With the electric bike, you can experience assisted cycling on a whole new level. Despite the motor assistance, it is a bicycle in the legal sense. There is therefore no requirement for a driver’s license or helmet. However, we strongly recommend wearing a helmet on all trips, regardless of the type of bike.

The carrier shown at the front is equipped with one handlebar axle per room, in which you can comfortably transport your navigation device and light day luggage.

Accessories, insurance, breakdown assistance for rental bikes

Each rental bike on this tour is equipped with a waterproof, spacious saddle bag as well as a tool set, an air pump, an odometer and a lock. You will also receive a handlebar bag per room, and a second saddle bag per bike on request.

If you rent a bike, rental bike insurance against theft and damage is automatically included. In the event of theft or damage to the rental bike, you will not incur any costs. Of course, negligent or willful acts are excluded from the comprehensive cover. The bike must be locked and the keys to the rental bike must still be in your possession. Please refer to the information in the travel documents. Also excluded are accessories such as saddlebags and handlebar bags incl. Contents, odometer, e-bike display, etc.

Should damage occur to a rental bike, simply call the service hotline provided to you. In the rare event of a flat tire, a puncture repair kit is available for every rental bike. Tools and a spare hose are available for self-help.

Own bikes

It is possible to bring your own bikes, but at your own risk. The hotel offers you lockable and covered parking spaces free of charge. Bicycle parking spaces. You will find the bike room in the hotel’s own parking garage directly opposite the main entrance. Please ask for the key at the reception. Please lock bikes in the bike room again specifically.

For possible damages etc. on the own bike during the whole bike trip as well as during transport trips can not be liable. For your own safety, we recommend that you always wear a bicycle helmet on all bicycle tours.

Arrival

Constance is very well accessible by train.

We therefore recommend that you start your vacation at home. Relax during the train ride against the magnificent backdrop of the lake and mountains. Rent the bikes and ride the train without stress. Info at www.bahn.de.

For the duration of your stay, your Lake Constance Card is valid as a free public transport ticket for the entire city area!

Car / Parking

If you arrive by car, you can park your car in the hotel’s own parking garage or nearby, depending on the category you have booked. You pay from approx. € 15 per car per day. Reservation in advance is neither possible nor required. Experience has shown that there are always sufficient free parking spaces. Please pay directly at the hotel reception on site.
