Cycling tour Germany: Star tour Danube and Altmühl around Bad Gögging

Journey to Bad Göggingen

Cycle tour Donauauen and Roman fort Eining, approx. 35 km

Issue of rental bikes. Through hop fields and through the floodplain, sometimes directly on the Danube, sometimes a little further away, past the old trees
to Eining (remains of Fort Abusina). By ferry (+ € 2.00 pP incl. bike) to Hienheim and back through Augebiete via Wöhr.

Cycle tour Regensburg, approx. 55 km by bike, 40 minutes by train and 20 minutes by boat

By bike to Weltenburg; by boat through the romantic Danube gorge to Kelheim – payable on site approx. € 10.00 per person including bike. Via Bad Abbach on the Danube cycle path to the center of the UNESCO World Heritage city of Regensburg (- to the Stone Bridge
near the cathedral -). Return by train to Neustadt and by bike to the nearby hotel.

Cycle tour Vohburg , approx. 40 km

Along the Danube cycle path away from traffic, partly on embankments to Wackerstein, where beautiful bathing lakes invite you to take a break. Continue to Vohburg; the medieval market, the wedding place of Agnes Bernauerin with Duke Albrecht III of Bavaria.
Interesting townscape (town hall in former church, historic center, castle hill, various churches). Return along the southern bank via Giesenau and Gaden.

Extra tour: Continue on the Danube cycle path to Mehring and Ingolstadt (new castle, various churches, prosecture) and back (approx. 73 km).

Cycle tour Weltenburg Monastery, approx. 35 km

You first travel through secluded alluvial forests to Staubing to the oldest monastery in Bavaria, the Benedictine Weltenburg Abbey, romantically situated directly on the Danube gorge (monastery brewery with atmospheric beer garden). Return.

Extra tour: On the Danube cycle path past the Räuberfelsen (robber’s rock), somewhat hilly to Kelheim; by boat (+ approx. € 10,- / person; payable on site) back to Weltenburg, by bike to the hotel (approx. € 10,- / person; payable on site). 26 km, of which 9 km uphill (approx. 100 m)

Cycle tour Kelheim and Altmühl cycle path, approx. 55 km by bike, 15 minutes by train and 20 minutes by boat

By train to Saal and by bike to Kelheim. Walk (approx. 20 minutes) to the Liberation Hall – a richly decorated monumental building of the Bavarian King Ludwig; unique view; individual visit. Along the Altmühl cycle path to romantic Riedenburg and back to Kelheim. By boat to Weltenburg (+ approx. € 10/person; payable locally) and by bike to the hotel.

Active version: continue by bike along the Altmühl cycle path to Essing (oldest wooden bridge in Germany) and Riedenburg (visit to Prunn Castle); return by bike & boat (63 km)

Cycle tour brewery tour Abensberg, ~ 20 km

Via Sandharlanden through the rich farmland and hop fields to the Kuchlbauer wheat beer brewery (Hundertwasser tower, brewery tour with tasting included; very interesting); back on the Abens cycle path.

Active version: On the way home via Biburg Monastery (+ 10 km)
