Munich – Merano in 8 days: Cycling, fun and pleasure over the Alps

8 Days

Your trip

Wow. On the bike across the Alps. From the Allgäu to Merano.

MeranoThe special thing about this tour, believe me, will be: you can do it! Yes, it will even give you great pleasure and a little pride during the day-long descent from the Reschen Pass along the Adige to Merano.

The tour takes you from the Bavarian capital through the Allgäu, the Wetterstein into the Inn Valley and over the Reschen Pass onto the main Alpine ridge through the lovely valleys of South Tyrol to the sun-drenched spa town on the Adige River below Tyrol Castle. A little trick will help you up the main Alpine ridge:

On day 6, a bus will take you from Landeck up the steep ascent to Nauders. You then cycle the last 100 meters up to Lake Reschen under your own steam. From here you can “let it roll” for 5 days. Only on the last day is there a small steep climb to master. A rapid descent then takes you directly to your destination.

The courses of the Inn and Adige rivers lead across Lake Reschen to Merano. Impressive mountain ranges form an imposing panorama. And from Reschen to the sea, orchards and vineyards characterize the route: from blossom to harvest, it’s always cycling season on the southern slopes of the Alps.

Are you in the mood for a little more?

We also offer the crossing of the Alps as an extended variant to Lake Garda or as a sporty variant in 8 days .

Experience the mountains and lakes of the high mountains, the sun of South Tyrol and the vastness of the valleys by bike: the hospitality will inspire you, the magnificent nature will enchant you!

Route and requirements

The title of the tour already gives it away… With this wonderful tour to the spa town of Merano and on to Lake Garda, even less experienced cyclists will have fun crossing the Alps.

Starting at Munich Central Station, you cycle through the lush meadows along the Bavarian lakes through the Allgäu foothills of the Alps towards the mountains: Glorious sunshine and a light foehn wind are not guaranteed – but not unlikely. A first climb takes you over the northern ridge past the Karwendel and Wetterstein into the Inn Valley. Follow the well-developed bike path from the Inn Valley through Tyrol and South Tyrol to Lake Garda. Discover unique natural and cultural highlights along the way. On this tour, you will cover a total of around 470 kilometers with your Bicycle back.

You cycle on wonderful cycle paths and small side roads, main roads only on short sections. Small climbs have to be cycled almost every day. The Reschen Pass is challenging, with a gradient of around 1,200 meters to Merano. The route is mainly asphalted, some longer sections are also on well passable natural roads.

Numerous farm roads allow you to cycle largely car-free between the orchards and vineyards in peace and enjoyment. If you like, we will bring you by transfer from the Inn Valley to the Reschen Pass. You will then ride rapidly downhill for 1,200 meters in altitude. In between, there are smaller climbs every now and then.

The trip is not suitable for persons with reduced mobility. Please contact us for detailed information if needed.
