Your trip
Combine two of Germany’s most popular cycling routes on the Danube and Altmühl on a varied round trip!
Since the uplift of the Alps, Germany’s slowest river, the Altmühl, has been flowing through the valley of the ‘Ur-Donau’ in Franconia.
The wide and graceful valley about 7o km before the mouth here breaks through the Franconian Alb. The little-known dry valley of Wellheim, the ‘Urdonautal’, is the heart of the bike tour.
On car-free, flat cycle paths you will pass through three valleys. The cycling vacation begins in the old cathedral city of Eichstätt, then you will see the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Regensburg, the Hall of Liberation, the Benedictine monastery of Weltenburg with its almost unique beer garden, and the old royal residence city of Neuburg/D. with castle, baroque castle pharmacy, court and study church.
